Specific phobias are classified as anxiety disorders. Affected individuals feel apprehension or fear of certain situations, activities, animals, or objects, with the perceived fear being out of proportion to the actual danger. In some cases, it does not even require confrontation; just thinking about or looking at the fear trigger is enough. Those who have a specific phobia are usually aware of their exaggerated reactions but are unable to control their feelings. Causes of phobias include parental anxiety disorders and/or depression, as well as traumatic experiences with the fear trigger.
Exposure therapy, in which affected individuals expose themselves to their fears, is considered particularly helpful in dissolving a phobia. Cognitive methods and mindfulness exercises are also effective. Quantum energy can be a great support in all of these.
