Stress is actually something we need. So-called eustress, positive stress, helps us cope with everyday activities. Positive experiences such as marriage or childbirth also generate eustress. On the other hand, we do not need distress, negative stress. Especially not if we experience it in excess. In a gradual process, negative stress can lead to serious illnesses, which are no longer uncommon in our performance-oriented society.
